Purpose of this library
This library explains common industrial drainage assets and the maintenance issues associated with them. It covers equipment such as separators, silt traps, catchpits, drainage channels and attenuation systems. It does not replace the manufacturer’s instructions, drainage design information, a site-specific risk assessment or competent assessment where access may be hazardous.
How entries are prepared
AI tools assist with drafting, editing and consistency checks. The publication workflow also checks each entry against the regulator, technical and manufacturer references linked on the page, while automated checks cover identifiers, page structure and links. AI assistance is not treated as a technical source. This is an editorial and source-review process, not independent approval by an engineer, drainage designer or other named technical specialist.
We do not invent site visits, equipment ownership, inspection findings, qualifications, case studies or technical endorsements. A technical contributor is named only where their identity, relevant expertise and review of the entry have been established.
Sources and technical limits
Where an entry shows a source or review date, that date records when the linked information was checked; it does not mean that every cited document was issued on that date. Manufacturer information applies to the named product or system and should not be assumed to describe another installation. Regulatory guidance applies only within the scope and jurisdiction stated by the source.
Maintenance depends on the asset installed, the catchment it serves, what enters the drainage, access and the discharge route. Product literature can explain how a component is designed, but it cannot confirm the condition, capacity, suitability or maintenance needs of an individual site.
What we publish
We publish detailed guides where the subject has a clear drainage or maintenance purpose and the explanation can be supported by suitable sources. Short reference entries identify related assets or features and link back to the original source. Search and filter views are navigation tools, not separate technical articles.
Corrections and review
Corrections are checked against the relevant entry and source before the text is changed. A review date should change only after a substantive check or correction, not because a page has been rebuilt.
Unknown contamination, confined spaces, structural defects, changes to drainage design or an immediate pollution risk need competent assessment for the actual site. Where there is an immediate hazard, follow the site’s emergency arrangements.
